The 5th Street Public Market is home to a variety of top Eugene attractions, including some of the city’s best upscale dining and shopping. Known as “Track Town USA” for its rich history as a track and field hotbed. Hayward Field, on the University of Oregon campus, has hosted the NCAA Championships, USATF Championships and four US Track and Field Olympic Trials, with another set of trials coming up in 2012. The track that Steve Prefontaine once dominated in the early 1970s is still an esteemed venue to this day.

The Eugene area is the ideal destination for golf enthusiasts of all levels. The area’s beautiful, lush greenery provides a perfect setting and visitors can enjoy a variety of courses. Riveridge Golf Course, Emerald Valley Golf Course, Tokatee Golf Club, Oakway Golf Course and McKenzie River Golf Course are just a few of your choices.

The Willamette River, which runs through Eugene, and the McKenzie River, a few miles north, are ideal waterways for recreational boating and viewing diverse plant and animal life. Boat launches are located up and down the river, allowing for easy access to the calm water and great fishing you can find on the Willamette.

The best way to access the scenic Pacific Coast is by taking Highway 126 west to Florence, a charming coastal town about 60 miles west of Eugene. From Florence, the coast is yours to explore at campgrounds located at Darlingtonia, Devil’s Elbow and M.O. Ponsler state parks. The coast offers a pristine view of the Pacific, and shoreside activities like hiking and dune buggy rides offer exciting recreational opportunities.
